Kitchen signs carved from Kentucky hardwood — the ones that go above the sink, over the range, on the pantry door, or in the gap by the coffee maker that has been empty since you moved in.
Some are warm, some are funny, and a few say the thing you actually mutter at six in the morning. All of them are cut rather than printed.
How they are made
Each sign is CNC-carved from pine or poplar milled by an Amish sawyer a short drive from our shop, then hand-finished and stained. The letters are cut into the wood rather than printed on it, so the design has depth you can run a thumb over and nothing on the surface that can chip or peel.

Where they go
Above the sink is the most-asked-about spot and the hardest, because the wall is short and the sign has to read from across the room. Most kitchen signs here are sized for that: wide enough to fill the gap, shallow enough to clear the window trim.
The pantry door takes a taller shape. Over a range hood you want something that will not mind steam, which carved and sealed wood handles better than canvas or paper-faced board.
Choosing the tone
A kitchen sign is read more often than almost anything else in a house, so the joke has to survive repetition. The gentler ones — a family name, a gathering-place line — wear better over years. The sharper ones suit a spot only the household sees.
