Our journey began in 2020 on Etsy, when we opened our very first store, Knots On Wood, crafting custom wooden signs made to order. Driven by a passion for creativity and exceptional quality, woodworking quickly transformed from a beloved hobby into a thriving family-owned business.
Building upon this initial success, in 2021 we expanded with a second Etsy shop, Creekside Candles, introducing handcrafted candles that complemented our wooden creations beautifully. Our growth continued in 2022 with the launch of our third Etsy shop, Picture This Prints, expanding our inventory to include an exciting assortment of items such as cups, mugs, tumblers, t-shirts, and uniquely designed wrapping paper.
By the end of 2024, our aspirations and product lines had grown beyond Etsy’s limits. We proudly brought together all our shops and diverse offerings into one unified online experience, Bluegrass Gifts, dedicated to delivering premium products all in one convenient location.

2020
Knots On Wood Begins
In 2020, driven by a passion for woodworking and a knack for crafting exceptional wooden items, I launched Knots On Wood on Etsy. Signs became our flagship product and immediately resonated with customers. Unlike typical vinyl-crafted signs, our uniquely carved, high-quality wooden signs stood apart, quickly earning a devoted customer base. Challenges in this first year included acquiring the right equipment to boost production speed without compromising on quality, as well as initially sourcing quality lumber reliably.
2021
Introducing Creekside Candles
Building on our local success crafting candles, in 2021 we introduced Creekside Candles to our growing audience. Our candles, beloved for their delightful scents and cozy charm, quickly found their place alongside our wooden creations. This expansion complemented our brand perfectly and allowed us to enhance our customers' experience with thoughtfully crafted home goods.
2022
Picture This Prints Takes Off
By 2022, steady business growth and enhanced design skills enabled us to branch into exciting new product lines with Picture This Prints. This new venture quickly gained popularity, especially with our innovative color-changing mugs, becoming viral sensations on social media. This year marked a notable expansion into diverse offerings such as custom-designed tumblers, stylish t-shirts, and beautifully designed wrapping paper, broadening our creative horizons significantly.
2023
Building Momentum
2023 was a landmark year. We celebrated surpassing 5,000 sales, a testament to our dedicated customer base and the growing appeal of our distinctive products. We received an increasing number of requests for custom designs and unique, personalized products that extended far beyond our original wooden signs, fueling further creativity and innovation in our offerings.
2024
Major Milestone and Transition
The momentum continued into 2024 as our sales soared, surpassing an incredible 10,000-sale milestone. Recognizing the need for greater control and a unified customer experience, we boldly transitioned away from Etsy to launch our independent online store, Bluegrass Gifts. Taking ownership of our entire business ecosystem and establishing our own platform was an exhilarating milestone that allowed for more direct customer interaction, enhanced customization, and endless possibilities for growth.
