Why it is printed instead of engraved

Almost every personalized retirement gift on the market is laser engraved. Engraving a powder-coated flask burns the coating away to bare steel, so an engraver gets one colour — grey — whatever the flask started as. Grey would flatten this design completely: the whole point is aged paper, red stamp ink and forty years of coffee rings. We print in full colour, so the card looks like a card.

Better than a plaque

Most retirement gifts commemorate the job with something that goes on a wall and stays there. This one hands back the object that ruled his mornings for four decades, with the last punch already made. It gets a laugh at the party and then goes in a jacket pocket, which is a better outcome than a plaque nobody hangs.
